Default Spots when looking into viewfinder

I have a Canon xti and a Canon 40D.

I look into both (using different lenses) and when i look in the viewfinder I see a couple of black spots that shouldnt be there. It is not showing up in the pictures but it is rather annoying when shooting.

Any idea what it is or how to fix it???
Any tips??

This is happening on BOTH? If it's not dust or something on the sensor, maybe stuff in the viewfinder?

dust in your view-finder.

I have a couple of hairs in mine and plenty of dust. i got used to it. easier than taking it apart to clean.

Actually, it's more likely crap on the mirror. You "see thru" the viewfinder crap but not the mirror as that's where you are focusing....Get a blower.

That's a good possibility. Just out of curiosity, do you keep your cameras pointed down when you're changing lenses. This helps keep dust from getting up in them. And it's definitely a good practice when shooting outside to keep larger stuff from blowing up in there too.

Debatable in the case of the OP, but I know at least for me it isn't. I routinely clean the interior of my gear and it hasn't helped.
