Default Uploading Photos - Where?

i was wondering what's a good place to upload photos.

i'll use flickr for most of them, but sometime i want to upload something that i don't really want on flickr, but i still need to upload to illustrate something.

i tried imageshack but was told my pictures were too big.

any other suggestions?

I'd recommend Photobucket. I pay a couple of bucks a month for the Pro version so I can upload full size images.

Why not still use flickr for those special cases? You can make the image private and only share it with those you want by giving them the direct link.
Seems messy to have various different places to put images simply for the sake of showing them.

Now, if you're talking about wanting to do something more with the images such as sell them, then yeah, look at other sites.

What about picasaweb? You have a free chunk of space that you'd get with your gmail address.

I only use my flickr account as a dumping ground :P There's certainly not a portfolio on there - just somewhere to dump and image to link here :P

That's what I do, I think it's because flickr is convinient for it, it's easy to upload and then grab the BB code and stuff all resized ready :P

I put other stuff on my website and on 500px

I have kept a (paid) Photobucket account for a while now, it's where I keep the many photos I use for illustrations both on my own web pages (sawdustfactory-dot-net-not-dot-com) and for various forums I subscribe to. It's a very easy and convenient way to link photos to web content.

I started a Flickr photostream expressly for use with DPS, and friends who also specialize in bird and other wildlife photography as hobbyists.

I create sub albums in Photobucket to keep my pics organized by category. I have sub albums for astronomy related stuff, for kayak stuff, for antique lanterns, cooking, so on and so forth.

Portfolios are something real photographers have. I hope to become a real photographer some day......
