Default Websites on Strike

Starting this Wednesday, January 18th, a lot of websites will be going on strike to protest the SOPA bill. Different websites are talking about different amounts of blackout time. Some are saying they'll be down until the 28th when the bill goes before Congress. As far as I know, the link below keeps pretty regularly updated with new sites joining the protest. I found out about it on a gun rights forum I'm part of. Facebook is on the list, as well as Google. Might want to check to see if any of the sites you frequent are on there.

Might need to check terms of service for google apps etc... there are some pretty big businesses that will not tolerate a full scale google shutdown.

I'm having a hard time believing it too. But I do think they're going to do something. Even if it's just shutting down for an hour or so. Especially since the bill affects them so much.

gturner - Google's the one I'm having the hardest time with. Especially with all the work they're doing with the CIA. But I do know they're very much against being censored.

I was just relaying the information given to me.

I hope they all do shut down though. It'd be a huge wake up call for a lot of people.

I am thinking that only part of Google will shut down, not the apps that businesses use, I do think that FB will shut down for like an hour or so because I dont think they would be down the whole day.

As much as I think they should, I think that list is bollox. Look how many times facebook and google appear in the list, clearly there's no verification that the submitter owns the site they are submitting.

Plus it's the 14th now, there's no news about it, no press releases from these giant sites and no warning on their sites.

If Facebook shut down for an hour the only way I'd know is when my teenager starts screaming.
Please don't let Twitter join the list or she'll need therapy

They are scheduled for one day strike. Twitter's people are against it and find the strike silly. Which is strange.

I don't believe Google's gonna shut down as well, especially now when SOPA has been stopped by White House.

We'll see how it will go.

For what is worth, I will shut down my blog

If anybody needs a link for WordPress plugin that automates the strike, I'll dig up the link.
