Default Sometimes it's not about being technically perfect...

I've been in a bit of a photo rut lately. I haven't felt tremendously inspired to create anything spectacular with my camera. I'm between sports seasons for my kids, I've lost a bit of my motivation after venturing out with my new Little Loop Football sports shots business this fall and my camera has been in the bag more than out. I feel like I'll never really master exposure, I do my best at editing but don't always get the perfect effect and my flash is somewhat of a mystery to me.

I forget that the reason I enjoy this hobby so much is that I'm a people watcher and strive always to find a way to grab a moment in time. Sometimes it's a facial expression, sometimes it's a celebration after a great sports moment, sometimes it's just some quiet.

So...today I got the following email from my husband's business partner. He and my husband have been in law practice together for 11 years and known eachother for at least 15. Last April, his wife was diagnosed w/Stage 4 Glioblastoma (brain cancer). They are treating her aggressively but in the end, she will most likely lose her battle. She is a mom of 2 great kids, a friend to many and a wonderful wife.
Here is the picture I took at the bike race that the firm participated in to raise money for cancer:

257908_2203907300108_1320128423_32672868_2821312_o

and here is the email I got:

Amy,

I wanted to thank you again for the photo that you emailed me of Cheryl and Brendan after the Ride for Roswell. It has been framed and in my office since that time. I look at it at least once every day. It is easily one of my favorite pictures. It captured so many things for me in one picture. I just wanted to let you know that your hobby has at least made a big impact on the life of one person. I will treasure it forever.

Thanks again,

Tom

I guess sometimes it's not about being technically perfect or artistically awesome.

Moved to tears by this one....

Sorry to read this sad story. However, you could never get a better reward for a photograph than that message.

Thats beautiful. Isn't it the best when your hobby can make so much of a difference to someone else?

Thank you for sharing. Sad story, but you did a great thing to lift this family's spirits. Sometimes photography is more than a job or a hobby, sometimes it's for capturing a fleeting moment in time.

Thanks, everyone. It really was quite a moment.

Just something to think about the next time we get very frustrated with our photography!
