I have been getting DPS emails for over a year now. I lok forward to them all and have learned so much! I entered a Holiday Photo contest here in Canada with Blacks Cameras. I have made it to the final top 10 in the category of Kids and Pets. I have a chance to win $5000 in Blacks Gift cards for Photography equipment. If I win I plan on giving $1000 to the elementary school I work at so they can buy camera equipment. But I can't win without votes. Could you please just take a moment out of your day to click on the link and vote? You can vote every 24 hours up until Jan 15th. Thanks so much. I wouldn't so much say it's spam in the traditional sense, I'd just say, in my cynical opinion, that it's a bit tasteless to not contribute anything, ever, to a community and then come asking said community (conveniently with a large subscriber base - ie voters) to help you win money.

Had the OP been registered to the forum a long time but simply didn't post much it's already be a big difference as i don't expect everyone to be a serial poster to be a member of the DPS family, but said poster just registered to the forum specifically to pimp our votes to win money.

You all can vote if you want, you're likely nicer people than I am. I'll just chose not to since it bothers me whenever anyone solicits votes to win something.

It's in the fuzzy pink grey boundaries on the edge of spam. We have let things like this pass in the past so I'm inclined to let it go in case Sbuss does start to contribute to the forum.

However, FWIW, I don't click to vote on such things. Any competition which relies on people bringing their own votes says nothing about the achievements of the winner and may well be little more than an address-harvesting exercise on behalf of the organisers. I'd be interested to hear other views.

I vote for people I know and like and who's work I do like. It doesn't necessarily mean that their work may be the best in the competition, but hell, who cares, those type of competitions are not created for the actual merit of the work, anyway.

This one doesn't get my vote, though, as it's just pure silly for a 'stranger' to ask a community for votes. Nice try, but personally, I wouldn't do it if I was a newcomer to the scene.
