This is kinda sad actually. Instead of commending his remarkable feat of visiting 218 countries (that is every country in the world!) in 12 years, News.com.au decide to mock his photography skills. Some of the pictures go back to mid 2000s when camera quality was decidedly inferior - and then they go on to compare those pictures with top pictures from Flickr. Shame, really. I bet this same guy would have been hailed as a frickin hero if he was an Aussie.

You know what, I commend him for his approach at it. Good on him for NOT going to all the tourist traps to take pictures that have been done thousands of times before. Even if his photographic skills are sub-par to a lot of the photographers that put him down, he still deserves a praise for it. 218 COUNTRIES! I wish I could do that! I've only been to 2 other countries outside the US "not counting the stops getting there", and one of which I spent most of my time trying to keep my head down.. so I applaud him for managing that. I bet even if most of those photos don't mean anything to anybody else, that they will be something he holds on to for the rest of his life and will enjoy being able to share with his family.

And what, pray tell, were these photography snobs doing for the past 12 years while this man had an amazing journey? Frankly, if I had that kind of journey, I'd be more concerned with experiencing it fully than worrying if my picture was coming out properly.

I agree. Sounds like whoever wrote this piece has never been outside of their own backyard. There are probably so many stories that this guy could tell about his travels and apart from brushing over one or two all they could do was bag his photographic skills.
Not only should the staff writer be ashamed of this story, so too should the editor for letting it get published. Its jealous drivel.

I agree 100% ... if he was trying to sell himself or his photos as a professional I would think a tad bit differently. The guy who wrote that is such a clown
