Please explain the 2 weekly assignments

With quite a bit of discussion regarding the results of the weekly assignments, well actually the lack of results, there is something that has puzzled me from day one. I hadn't asked earlier as I thought that I'd get a handle on it eventually but no, it's still just as clear as mud.

There seems to be two weekly assignments running each week, one listed here on the forum and where those participating post their entry. I get that one. It's the other one that has me confused. It seems to run on the DPS Blog, appear in the newsletter and on Facebook. Can anybody explain the dual purpose of having 2 weekly assignments, if there is one. I 've seen alot of new posters confused about which one they are contributing to and also they have been unable to find the results to the correct one(prior to the holdup on results at the moment).
