I'm going to be doing a couple of porojects for my City & Guilds Photography course this year and part of the project will involve researching well known photographers. Im looking for some starting points.
1. Landscape Photography - so far i've been looking at Ansell Adams, Charlie Waite and Ian Cameron. Can you recommend anymore? 2. B & W Portrait - So far looking at Irving Penn & william Klein. Particularly interested in images with a lot of depth via good use of contrast. 3. Pet photography (especially dogs - don't know of any famous photographers who spe******e in this area. Thank-you |

1. Maybe Art Wolfe. He had a series broadcast on PBS I think. He's a contemporary landscape wildlife kinda guy.
2. Not sure she fits your criteria but Dorthea Lange was a well known depression era photographer that documented the people of the time. Might be worth a look through Google images to see if she fits. 3. William Wegman is pretty famous for his artistic images of Weimereiners. And, I don't know that she is famous but Illiona Haus (Scruffy Dog Photography) is a darn good pet photographer. I think she also shoots some for magazines and publications.

Thanks, these photographers are just great. Its funny I was looking at William Wegman's 'Blue Period with Banjo' - it was only the other day when I was trying to photograph my parents dog with my banjo. It didn't turn out quite as well but I'll keep trying! One of my project is an around the house project (supposedly to contrast with the time consuming landscape project) but I seem to have confined myself to dogs and musical instruments! For B&W portraits, the Master remains Yusuf Karsh
With such classics as Churchill, Hepburn, Boggart and Hemingway, You just can't go wrong.
