Hi Everyone,
I am having a little bit of trouble trying to decide on a website/business name, and was hoping I can get your opinions. I want you to think about the pros and cons of each. The 2 I'm trying to decide between are: 1.) "arthurkorbiel" - this one is a short url, and easy to type into the browser or for an email (i.e. info@arthurkorbiel) - however, it's just my name with no association to photography - how would this look in listing or business card - people wouldn't know what my product/service is. 2.) "arthurkorbielphotography" - this one is a long url, and too tedious when typing the address into the browser or for an (i.e. info@arthurkorbielphotography) - my name is associated with photography, and people would know what serviceI offer. I was also thinking that one of the URL's could be used for a "portfolio" site, while the other would be a "business" site. What would be my best option? Do I go with the short or the long one? I guess I'm thinking from a marketing/branding point of view - all the big companies have short, easy URL's to remember (i.e. google, yahoo, pepsi, apple, canon, nikon). All short and sweet! Your opinions & thoughts would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

I think www.korbiel.com or www.korbielphoto.com are both better options. And I think they're both available.
When I see your first proposed domain my brain is trying to read it as art-hurkadksjgakldj.com. The second proposed domain is just too long in my opinion. I opted for the short and easily pronounceable www.rentham.com, even though it has nothing to do with my services. It's the name of a street I lived on. Pretty much every option was taken, and my full name has too many vowels to be a decent url. |

How about "arthursphotos.com"?

I agree, the first one doesn't state your business, and at first I had trouble reading 'arthurkorbiel'. I couldn't really tell what it said at first...
I do think that the second on is a little too long. All those letters could get confusing in a URL. Here's my tow suggestions: If Korbiel is your last name, then how about "Korbiel Photography"? It's not too long, gives your last name, and states your business: photography. This is what it would look like as a website: www.korbielphotography.com. That doesn't seem to long to me. Or, try www.arthurscaptures.com. That's not too long either and 'captures' makes me think of photography. Those were my two best ideas. I like 'em both, but you may or may not like one (or both) of them. Lol... Really, you can make it whatever you want. Get creative! What type of photography do you do? If it's portraits, how about korbielportraitstudio.com? Or if it's landscapes, you could try something connected with scenery. Good luck!
