Family Portraits (need help)

I consider myself to be an intermediate-beggginer as far as photography goes, and am doing my first family portrait shoot in a couple weeks and would appreciate and tips/tricks/ect.

I do have questions. Tell us your gear--particularly what lens' you have and also what you have for flash and lighting. Are you planning to shoot indoors? How many people do this family consist of? All this info. will help for starters with the responses to come.

intermediate-beginner? You're either one or the other. Which one? Can't help you unless you give more facts than misspelled words, experience level and camera and lighting equipment
presently owned.

Sorry about the misspelled words, that was my Mac "correcting" them.
In relation to my understanding of photography, I think I am intermediate. But as far as experience goes, I am still beginner. I am planning on shooting outdoors (during the golden hours if it is sunny) with my d5100 and Nikkor 18-55 (the kit lens that came with the camera)
I do not own any external flashes; and the only other lens I have is a Sigma 70-300.
Also, it is a family of seven.
