I'm thinking Costa Rica in the winter....
Anyone gone on a photo tour? Would you consider it "worth it", or would it be better to just go on your own? I'm interested in all kinds of things for this..wildlife/birds/scenery/cultures. Where would you go and why?

Geez...You have the Finger Lakes, south coast of Maine, Baltimore, Bean Town, Amish country, Outer Banks, Washington DC, Aaroostook Nation Park in Maine, should I go on? Appalachain Trail, Nashville, Ozarks, Badlands. All you have to do is pick a place and GO!
Across the pond...Germany, Belgium, France, Netherlands, Luxumburg. I would love to the old Soviet Bloc countries.

Well if you don't want 12 a 12 hour flight then how about Australia? It is at least 18 hours.
Just kidding. ----------------- Very close to your home: How about Quebec (province) up in Canada? A taste of Europe, superb scenery especially in fall, and wildlife. I havn't been on any photo tours.

I've just booked myself on a photo tour to Holland in April to shoot windmills and tulip fields. It's run by a company that will provide models to provide foreground interest, so I get some opportunities to improve my people skills too..
![]() On my bucket list are: The Great White North. (Hopefully I'll have Niagra falls under my belt soon) Iceland New Zealand Masai Mara Table Mountain Taj Mahal and Delhi Machu Picchu Easter Island North Pole Himalayas and Nepal Philipean Jungles And a few Concrete jungles that have recogniseable landmarks or interesting faces. I'll happily go photographing anything with anyone who shares the same passion for photography as me. I once read somewhere that we spend too much time dreaming about the places where we aren't that we forget to look at our surroundings through the eyes of a visitor. We forget to see the extraordinary in our locality, so I'd be just as happy doing a photowalk in my neighbourhood with someone who can help me see the incredible in the things I take for granted.

Guess I'll join in:
Mongolia Himalayas, Nepal, Tibet Alaska & Yukon Scandinavia Fiji Tazmania Switzerland (John, I'm crashing your couch )France Russia Vienna Italy Greece Turkey along the Hellespont Luxembourg Spain Israel UAE (They don't let you in if you've been to Israel so...) Iceland&Greenland Antarcitca ...There's a lot more, but those are the main ones. I haven't done any photo tours, but I did go on a couple short tours that were just sightseeing things, and it was worth it. I would have missed so much if I just went by myself.

I haven't done any photo tours either. I've heard nothing but good things about Costa Rica.
I think everyone should see Yosemite and Yellowstone at least once in their lives. Yosemite is just spectacular and Yellowstone has so much wildlife, you can see a lot just from your car. Where else can you pull up next to a wild bison? I'm a little surprised no one has mentioned Petra. I would love to go there and to Angkor Wat & Machu Picchu for the old ruins. Maybe run into Indiana Jones. I'd also love to go on an African safari to "shoot" the animals. I'd like to see Alaska and Iceland for the landscapes.
