sWITCHING OVER FROM A DIGITAL CAMERA TO dslr

Nice to introduce myself- fm India.

I have one Olympus FE 270 digicam and thinking of going in for a DSLR & have shortlisted Nikon Cool pIx P 500- Just want to know whether i can go ahead or any one can suggest me a suitable DSLR since Iam a beginner

Just so you know, the P500 is not a DSLR but a bridge camera. It is technically a point & shoot digital camera that looks and handles slightly more like a DSLR, but unlike a DSLR you cannot change its lens. It will also have a significantly smaller sensor than a typical DSLR. the P500 is also considered a superzoom camera, so it will allow you to zoom in to much longer ranges or focal lengths than would typically be practical (read: prohibitively expensive) to achieve on a SLR camera.
