I saw this wide angle screw-on type lens.
Has anyone ever tried this adapter? Is it any good? I figured it just as an occasional thing if you just have to have the extra wide perspective. Any experiences and/or comments are appreciated.

As a general rule, if it's a screw on, it's a filter type thing. Generally, they suck ass, it's like holding a magnifying glass in front of your camera.

Would you even consider it as a last resort, or if you don't want to carry too much glass with you on occasion?
I know it's not the ideal thing, but what if budget is a concern and you probably will not need a dedicated fisheye or extrem wide angle lens?

I bought a macro lens/filter kit once. It was horrendous, been in my draw ever since the first time I used it. I wouldn't go near anything like that again tbh

I had on of the Opteka versions on a bridge camera I had. For what I used it for, it served it's purpose. Like someone else said, it will cause some really bad vignetting if you zoom out too far. Just be aware that anything you stick in front of the front element of a lens could potentially cause image quality issues.

Look at the 2 photos they supllied in the ad. The 2 photos were taken with the same lens. The one photo is just a cropped image of the other one. There is no change in perspective. Which means neither of thos photos were taken with that converter lens. So if they won't even use their product, why should you. I bought a simular converter lens back in 1985. It was horrible. Alot of distortion and chromatic aberration. Especially where the trees and sky come together.
