Default Radio

K, I'm nervous. I'm doing a radio show for my business tomorrow. I used to do public speaking and would do seminars for tens of thousands of people and had no problem with it. But this is different. The guy that is doing the show with me is basically doing an interview and I am really shy when it comes to talking to someone on a one on one situation.

I'm glad they didnt ask me weeks in advance or I might die of anxiety!! I'm so hoping my voice wont come across all shaky!

Just a thought, what if you thought not of the one on one, but that you are speaking to thousands. Maybe? It is radio and you are going to address the audience.

Another approach may be to write down some salient thoughts and have the notes handy. At least if the host asks about those subjects the notes will prevent the "hunting" for the answers and settle your thoughts.

Well you know 2 things. You'll be talking about photography and the business of photography. Since you have a deep passion for the former, just be yourself and share your passion! The business end of the conversation will unfold naturally. Hey its business. Get a good nights sleep and you'll be good to go. Now the big question...will there be a podcast of it?

My father and I had a heating & air conditioning business. One of the big radio stations called him and wanted him to come on the air to talk about the business. The night before his big debut he chickened out and sent me to the studio.
I was so nervous that morning I thought I was going to jump out of my skin. The radio host asked some questions for about 5 minutes and then he opened up the lines for homeowners to call in and ask questions. After 2-3 calls I suddenly realized that this is what I do for a living. I talked to people every day on the phone about their problems or answer questions. I then calmed down and just acted like it was a one on one conversation. Later my friends said I did a great job.

The radio station never called me back in... LOL

You'll do great!!!!

LoL.. You silly.. Look, you're going to go and have a coffee and a chat with someone who's interested in what you do.. Just answer the questions.. You're not on the radio, you're not public speaking.. Just ask for a coffee and chill.. Easier said than done, I know, but the moment you just realise that it's HIS job to get the interview done, and direct the conversation.. You're just going to talk about yourself.. Chill, it's interesting but nothing to be nervous about..

Suggest you get yourself a coffee in a mug, and just relax and have a chat.. Pretend he's one of us.. Maybe Big Fuzzy??
