Default Firefox 9

I know at least some of you will be using Firefox as your browser, and if you're anything like me don't always keep up with updates, but the last week or so Mozilla released v.9 ... just updated it and there's a very noticeable uptick in performance... just thought it might be a good heads up for some of you!

Mozilla Firefox 9.0.1

I have mine set to update automatically, and looking at my current version, I see I have been updated to v.9.0.1. I haven't had any problems with previous versions, always smooth, and I don't notice a difference, yet. What have you noticed improvement-wise so far?

You can certainly look for even better things to come in the future as far as firefox is concerned, especially since inking a 300 Million per year deal with Google this week.. Could very well spell the end for IE.

For me at least it's much faster. Since they started doing the more frequent, less heavy updates, I"ve followed along and haven't seen much of a difference, but with this one I definitely did.

I read that article earlier this week... with google pushing chrome, they seem like strange bed-fellows, but I suppose there's something to be said for taking note of how reluctant people are to switch browsers. I love google as my SE, but not enough to leave FF if they pulled it...

When you install Firefox dd you un-install IE? Or does the operating system prevent that so you just have to leave it in the background?

I still have explorer on the system, I just never use it.

Hell, for all i know IE might be faster than FF... so goes my comment above about browser-loyalty I guess.

It leaves IE on as before, but when you launch FF, it asks you if you want FF to be your default browser "yes". Likewise, if you were to relaunch IE manually later, that would also ask you the same question - "NO".

Thanks for the heads up. I mostly use Chrome, but i might have to check out FF9. I am always looking for more performance out of my browser.

I like Chrome best, but Firefox comes in close second. At any rate, I have found it to be excellent practice to keep at least two browsers installed and running on any computer.

Thanks for the tip, Niresangwa!
