Default What was the best thing you got for xmas!

I'll start (of course ;D)

I know its not the 25th yet, but I have to work out of town over christmas, so we did christmas early.

My mom (i'm 33 and still call her mom, sue me) has gotten tired of looking at my pictures on my laptop/phone so she bought me a projector Now I can be like they were in the 70s and have "slideshow" parties ;D;D;D

Bought myself a second hand guitar today - so I'll use that since I expect very little for xmas. My wife and I spend on holidays, jewellry and camera gear which encompasses birthdays and xmas

Hey.. That's really cool... I remember my dad (I'm 43 and still call him dad.. Sue me! ) used to have an 8mm projector and we'd all sit around watching the jerky badly coloured silent movies he made.. LoL.. Those were the days.

I've only opened one gift so far and that was from a colleague at work. Its a warm, cozy poncho with a hood. It's great!! Our computer at home is right by the front door so it can get quite drafty and chilly and especially when the wind catches the cat flap too so this poncho will keep me nice and warm and toasty! Thanks Rhona! You rock!!

That is super cool!! My mum has an old projector at her house. I bet it still works too lol! I'd love to sit down one evening and go though all the slides my dad took when I was really little.

I've never seen my mom so excited to give me a gift before. I think she was more excited than I was.

At my wedding, during the reception, the photographer had a bunch of shots running on a screen all night. She was pretty impressed by it so thats where she got the idea for me.

So far, being upright and mobile is gift enough for me. The fact that I have received a ton of help and support from friends and family through some tough times this year outweighs any physical gift I could have gotten. BTW, I'm 40, and my mom is still "mom". She still calls me her "little boy" too. So it's all good!

Dad (yes I still call him that, & I will be 50 next year, so sue me) sent me a check for $100.00. He says to divvy it up for myself, my hubby, & my 2 kids. Being that I am out of work, & money is tight, it's a great gift. Although I am not sure I'll cash it....I don't want him to be broke either. He's long since retired & money is tight for him too. Also hubby sprung for the DPS eBook on how to go pro. Is that a hint? LOL He only told me because he didn't want us to buy it twice. So I know what I am getting for Christmas.

Can't complain really even though money is tight. I have the most wonderful hubby, my 2 kids, my dog, health, a decent roof over my head, & dad is willing to help me out. I wasn't expecting that because 1, I never asked him (wouldn't dream of asking him for financial assistance), 2, he's having his own issues with his health & his home right now. I have everything I could ever want & more. I don't really need any camera stuff right now, though I do want a nicer camera strap. I hate walking around with one that screams Nikon. LOL But it can wait.

Got myself a Deuter 75liter backpack so I can go hiking and such. Now I need a little point and shoot so I can carry something small and light. I have a canon a620 but it's heavy and murders AA batteries.
