Exclamation My Nikon D7000 on camera flash isn't firing

Ok.. I've googled, I've tried all kinds of settings... I can't figure out what went wrong with my camera's flash settings. It will only fire when it's set to shoot in Auto and I don't want to shoot in Auto for everything so I'm hoping someone can help me with this? I have been able to use my external flash but for some reason I can't get my on-camera flash to go off at all unless it's on Auto... any help would be awesome! Either message me back here, or send me a message on facebook (kimberly elizabeth).

Thanks!

The only thing I can think is - do you have it disabled in the flash commander menu? In there you can turn it to off, manual, ttl etc.

Make sure your shutter speed is at or below the maximum sync speed (nikon is 1/200th I think).

Switch the camera to manual and set the camera to 1/160th, ISO 200 and f/5.6 -- pop up the flash and try taking a shot. Does the flash work? Try cranking the shutter to 1/400 and taking another shot. It might not let you raise the shutter that high or it might just not flash.

I know my canon 500d won't fire the flash unless it's popped up, I.e if it's on auto, and decides to use flash, it will pop up and fire. In any other mode I have to push the button to pop it up, then the camera fires the flash. There is that 1/200 sync thing on mine too...
