Default There's Nothing Like

Finding out that one o your photos was stolen and posted to that blasted site, Tumblr. I woke up this... afternoon, and went to my computer, logged on to Facebook to find several of my friends posting the same tumblr url to my wall, saying around the same thing, "Holy Sh**, Adi, isnt this your picture?".
So, curious, I click on the link, and whizbangfoo, it surely is my photograph!
The link in question: http://inhalekidcudi.tumblr.com/post/14522881551
And the link to my photograph: Rafa Eyes | Flickr - Photo Sharing!

Now granted, This has caused a ton of "likes" on flickr, which, by all means, is pretty rad, not to mention, its technically "tumblr famous", but its the idea that I'm not getting credit for my work.

I've learned 2 things from this experience, now.
1) WATERMARK YOU PICTURES!
2) Don't trust flickr.

This is kinda my rant for the day. I absolutely hate how its so easy to do such a thing. And, I guess I wouldn't be as pissed off if he simply posted a link to the original photo, you know? I hope all of you guys who don't already protect your work learn from my misfortune, and begin to! And to all of you who already do, well, I guess a big, fat "I told you so" is due.

You may want to edit your flickr privacy and permissions.
Especially who can access your files and share them..

At the moment the image in question can be downloaded and shared.

Register your copyright too. I had some images stolen by another photographer almost 6 months ago. It still rankles.

Not sure if it is new since you posted here but there is credit to you as well as a link to your Flikr page. Tiny though it may be.

Exactly. According to the rights currently reserved on your flickr page, that image is free to be shared as long as attribution (in the form of a byline and link back to flickr) is provided. Guy is free and clear.

ALL RIGHTS RESERVED would limit others' rights to share your images.

Noticed that too. He at least gave you credit.

Uh, this is a good thing. He reposted your image with a link back to your original. If enough people do this, it goes viral. Viral photos have a good chance of being sold.

You only have to get grumpy when there is no link back to your site, or someone claims the work as their own.

I forgot to update this saying that I managed to have a friend contact him to add credits. He's a decent kid, actually, I was just peeved that my work was initially just grabbed without permission or credit.
