Osmosis, what do you pay for standard web hosting?

For me, $120 is just fine. I like Siteground and have had 0 problems. Any issues I did have were easy to solve and fixed very quickly.

Also, I'm sure I'm not even CLOSE to getting the maximum potential out of all the things in CPanel.

I do host my photography website with Bluehost, and yeah they're cheaper ($79.40/year) but I've had SO many outages with that website, it would be hard to recommend them to anybody.

You mean Siteground or Bluehost?

Regular price when you renew is $9.95 per month.

The one annoying thing I've found about hosting companies is once you already have your website up and running, you're pretty much locked in to their renewal prices, while they dangle incentives in front of your face to get all your friends to sign up at astronomically low prices.

I pay £4.95 a month. This allows me up to 5 domains 100 subdomains 10Gb and 150Gb bandwidth. 100 mailboxes and a free domain, 100 MySQL database, 1 MSSQL database, PHP or ASP on Linux or Windows hosting.

Zenfolio costs $100 a year for their pro account. Unlimited storage, a free domain, some very pretty templates, and a Lightroom plug in, and easy migration fro SmugMug, Picassa and Flickr.

Flickr costs $50 a year for unlimited storage.

500Px costs $50 a year for unlimited storage and portfolio and the ability t use your own domain.

Given all that, $120 a year for an ordinary website seems rather expensive, no matter what their add ons are like.. To get the equivalent of my current hosting plan, I'd have to shell out $24 a month.
