I can't read all your text because you did not make your image size according to the rules so I get Google ads running through your image and papragraph.
I really feel for you in your job because of the things you see and have to deal with. Unfortunately we will never stop young drivers doing the wrong thing, but it's just such a waste with these sort of outcomes.

I get reports to type like this all the time; the survivors of these types of crashes or the survivors from the donorcycles (motorcycles) that don't wear the protective clothing they should. It's tragic, and it's horrible for the families, but I admit I have a hard time sometimes feeling sorry for the victims. I feel sorry that they weren't mature enough or sensible enough to put on the devices that were meant to save their lives, and I feel sorry that they were foolish enough to think that it "wouldn't happen to them"; as though Death has a certain "someone" he picks and they are never his type. I know that sounds cruel; but after 5 years of typing the reports ranging from the initial trauma visits to the extensive surgeries, my sympathy wears out. How hard is it to put your seatbelt on? How hard is it to get and wear the right type of helmet or leathers? Dead isn't cool. Dead sucks. Only it doesn't suck much for you - just your whole family and all your friends.
When I change careers and actually start SEEING these patients more than just "hearing" about them, I admit it will be a shock and I will, of course, feel sympathetic and empathetic to them, but at the same time...how hard is it to make sure you're safe? I'm sorry cpeay that you had to witness yet another tragic event because someone's momentary (and fatal) lapse of judgment. Such lapses hurt more people than they realize. I should note that while I do drive fast in the summer on the high way going up to my parents house, I've never ever hit that type of speed. So, I'm not saying this as someone who has never gone too fast - I have, I've just never gone over 140 km/hr on the highway in the summer (never more than 1-2 km over the limit in the city..that's just suicidal down here). In winter, I'm usually the one all the faster drivers are complaining about, going slowly and carefully in poor conditions lol A dichotomy, I guess

Gosh that's terrible. Must be very hard to deal with that stuff day in and day out.
I feel a bit like Peach though - in my mind it's not exactly a "tragic accident". It would however be that if they took out someone innocent on their way out. |

I'm just glad they only killed themselves.

Too bad about the kids. I've recently been trying to teach my son to drive, and I'm reminded of all the stuff I've learned over the years that's just second nature now. We talk about trying to teach people to move their camera dial off "auto" here sometimes, and talk about some of the stuff people have to master to do that well, but that's nothing next to all the stuff you've got to learn to control a car -- especially under adverse conditions. There just isn't a whole lot of room for mistakes when you're moving that fast, you know? I'm just floored they weren't wearing their seat belts. Sad, but also not too bright.
