Default How to convert digital photos to negatives?

This is a question from a friend of mine:

What's the easiest and cheapest way to convert digital to film? I want to do this project, but the pics are digital and I need the negatives.
Turn Photo Negatives Into Artsy, Personalized Lamps
And thank you!

Suggestions? Ideas? Have you done this?

Set your camera up to shoot your computer screen. 1/60 shutter speed (may be this doesn't matter anymore). Use a tripod. You may need to do a test shoot with varying exposures.

LoL.. My screen is 1920x1080 with a very poor contrast ratio and colour rendition compared to film. You could do it that way, but you'd get a lot of pixellation.. But perhaps that doesn't matter for this project.. Personally I wouldn't be prepared to get rid of my precious memories in a thing like this, so I wouldn't use any of the negatives I created back in the film days. Sounds expensive.. You have to buy film, photograph the pictures one by one, and then get the film developed.

If you're serious about it, These guys will put your digital photos onto film for you.

Just a thought...I believe you can obtain special acetate sheets which can be used in an ordinary printer.
Digital images could be inverted (if you want), manipulated to the size, shape etc. of a film (there are probably Photoshop filters available for this somewhere, I bet) and then printed off onto the acetate and then cut out by hand. - Would this work to get a similar effect?

Some professional labs will print to negative, I know that I had that done several years back at a local place.

Thanks for the suggestions, y'all. Like I said in the first post, this is a question a friend of mine had. She wants to do this project for a Christmas present. I've pointed her to this thread, so waiting to hear what she says.

Hutch, I'd thought about the acetate thing as well, but wasn't sure if they were still around or could be used that way. That might end up being the most practical way to approach this project (for me, if I were doing it, anyway). Thanks!

I've got some acetate sheets at home.. hadn't thought about this, but it would probably work. You would want to print out the holes and so on, as that adds to the effect. Do a search for "Film Strip" borders etc.

Thanks again for all the suggestions. I've passed on the link to this thread to my friend. Hopefully, this will help her figure things out.
