Default Guards Of May Single

So for the last twelve months or so my band (reformed from 3/4 of our previous band) has been writing, recording, finding guitarists and generally getting everything that we need done and we've finally released our single. We recorded at Loose Stones Studios, got it mixed by Forrester Savell (Karnivool, Dead Letter Circus) and got it mastered at Sterling Sound in NY.

We're trying to get some initial momentum with the online release before things start ramping up next year with another single and the full EP release. The track is called "Control" and you can download it for free (or if you're inclined, name your price) on our Music page.

GUARDS OF MAY - Music

Let me know what you think! We're excited

Not my music Nick - but very impressed all the same. Nice mixing etc, unfortunately it sounds like so much other stuff one hears these days - or it does to me. But that's generational I guess and I hope you have a hit.

Good work and I wish you and your band all the best with it.

Thanks Bruce. We won't be everyone's style, but we're lucky in that we're not influenced by any one band, which can be a problem for a lot of bands so our inspiration comes from a lot of different styles. The single, of course, is one of the ones we think is most suitable to be a hit if it does Thankfully every song on the EP is very different to the next.

Nice, sounds pretty cohesive.
Hope you guys get off the ground and have a long evolving career.

Just out of curiosity, why guards of may?

Thanks ravncat. It's just one of those random name ideas that turned out to be pretty cool haha. Well, we think it's cool

Love the song and love the sound!
I can feel some of the influences (early grunge, Alice in Chains and such) but you certainly made it your own.
Way to go, man!
Think the EP will be available in Canada? Maybe through ITune?
Can't wait to hear the rest.
I think you've got yourself 2 new fans in my house.

Wow thanks Yes, while the singles may not be put onto iTunes yet, the EP most definitely will be. We'll have physical CD's for the EP too (it seems kinda strange in 2011 don't it).

If I had to say who our direct influences are, it would be Karnivool, Dead Letter Circus, Muse and Incubus, amongst others. And there would be a lot of bands that we listen to that they are influenced by themselves. I'm a Rush and moderate Led Zeppelin fan, for one. We're generally interested in a lot of music in and outside rock, such as film score and classical music, even. You'll definitely notice it in the full EP.
