While there are a couple that I somewhat enjoy. For instance #4, I think it's a good B&W shot. Overall, I'm going to have to say something I never thought I would. I agree with Max. Most of them seem uninspired and some seem over-processed, while others just look like poorly composed snapshots. For instance #20, I didn't realize taking a picture of yourself in a mirror could be considered competition worthy.

Thats what WOWed the judges? Who were these judges?
I liked #2 & #5 and a couple were taken with great timing like the guy on the skateboard but the rest just seemed to be snapshots.

I like most of them # 11 is my fav , I can remember doing exactly that as a kid. The photographer also entered a similar shot in the Canon Australia EOS Inspires Competition.

Yep, I must admit to agreeing with Max. There are a few pretty good images there, but as far as wowing the judges I think is a reach. Maybe if the judges had a look at the editors favourites on 500px they might not have been so "overwhelmed" by these.
Anyway, I glad it's just not me

Most look like snapshots to me also, especially the one with a bunch of people in a lake. THAT was a winner? WTF?
This has soured me on entering competitions, as I have no idea what the judges are looking for. I'm just going to continue to shoot to please myself.

![]() Yeah, there were a few that were pretty good. I liked #1 (though the colors look kind of 'off '. Not enough contrast or brightness or something.), and #13. (That one was pretty cool actually!) And I kind of liked #16, too. But most of them were just... well, they looked like they weren't planned out or anything, just plain old snapshots. I know if I entered a photo contest, I'd put a lot of thought into my entry, not just throw in a cool snapshot that I took really quickly, without much thought about it. And that last one...???? (#20) That just doesn't strike me as a contest finalist picture. IMO, it's just... not a really great photo! Sometimes I wonder- just how much do all these photo contest judges actually know about photography?? I mean, a lot of times, I look at the winners of some online photography contests and think, 'What?? I've seen better than that before!'

There's quite a few I really like. But I couldn't noticing - most of them have a lot of beer in(?)
