I thought that was the normal price? I know the L version is just over $700. But yesterday was the first time I started looking at the 100mm macro, so maybe that's a recent price change, I don't know

I bought one about 4 years ago and only paid $650 for it then in Australia, so think that price could be about the going rate.

Nah, it's a better than usual price, about $50 off. B&H has it for $499, now that the fall "instant rebates" have kicked in. Without the fall rebates (which end 1/7), it's about $550.

I remember when it was a $400 lens, but that was before three price increases happened. BTW, the L version is closer to $1k (and pretty much always has been); although with the rebates it's ~$900.
