I'd start by shooting things that I like. What kind of photography are you interested in? Are you going to shoot all your pictures with natural light? Do you know how to control exposure? Do you know about DOF?

To be honest im kinda new to this if i see something i like i take a picture of it. All i know is that if its dark i got to use flash other than that i got a lot to work on =/

What is the portfolio for I know you said college, but maybe a few more details. Is it an all-around portfolio or does it have to be one subject type? If it is an all-around that's easy. Some landscapes, some portraits, some macros a few night shots and maybe a few black and whites. Subject matter could be most anything that holds interest to you, people, flowers, bugs ect...

Sounds like you might need to learn your camera a bit more and how to use it as well as the art or photography before you worry about a folio.

i think its an all round im supposed to take 10-20 pictures 2 visual drawings and i self portrait
but i think your right maybe i do need to learn a little more about my camera but i believe that for the images it can be of what ever like random things
