Why some photo comps are worthless
You may remember I entered a competition with a photo of 4 of me in my bedroom (pink pants!)... well, I never expected to get far, because it was a public vote comp, which isn't a photo comp at all, it's a popularity contest.
You might be interested to know that this photo made it to the final 10 out of several thousand.  as did this one that received the most votes overall, nice photo, but the criteria clearly stated "Getting ready to go out"  I'm happy to be beaten by a better image. But these popularity contests masquerading as photo competitions just wind me up!

it's true, those types on contests are useless. my local radio station had a contest going on trying to show the true beauty of my hometown. and the voting procedure was whoever got the most "likes."
the winner? whoever had the most facebook friends and the most time to sit there updating your status every 10 minutes telling people to go vote for you. why bother?
