Default Was planning on golden hour shooting downtown, now it's overcast and potential flurry

Hi everyone,

I was planning a "golden hour" session tonight to take a break from studying. It was clear and crisp all morning and afternoon, now the thick clouds are rolling in and potential flurries. I'm still going to go out, but any ideas or suggestions?

My plan was to go downtown St. John's Newfoundland (Canada) and take shots of the ships and houses around the harbour with the golden light, it finally seemed like the best day to finally get a picture to enter the contest. I'm a little frustrated but maybe I can find a silver lining in this evening.

I know this is a little abstract, but I wanted to vent my frustrations as well.

Clouds make much better shots than clear skies.

Light is light. As a photographer you cannot wait all day for that perfect magic light in perfect weather. One must be able to capture images in all types of weather.

Sure you can! You don't have to be able to capture images in all types of weather . It's like fishing - some people like to take their time and hope they'll capture something eventually.

It went well, but the clouds came in thick and dark bringing flurries and driving winds. I'll need more practice in this weather, I was looking forward to the gold colours.

It's the job of a photographer to get the best shot, under any circumstance. No whining cause the light wasnt perfect. Use what you have to your advantage and you'll get a great piece every time
