Default Ever injured yourself editing photos?

Might seem a strange topic, but I say for about 4 - 5 hours solid yesterday editing pics and have a few pains that I know I have gained from spending too long in front of a pc.

My hand hurts when I rest it on the desk to move the mouse when doing my day job... I have now ordered a padded mouse mat to avoid this in future.

Also my right shoulder is really tender as is my right bicep... both I guess from holding the mouse for so long and using the muscles for too long. How can I avoid this in future?

Go for a small break every 30 minutes when you come to a stopping point.

I know I should do this... its hard though when you're on a roll. Also I get easily distracted so taking a short break often becomes a long break and I never get anything done

I'm the same way, when I start doing something I don't like to do anything else till I'm finished. I still get my breaks in though, if anything take just five minutes every hour.

i've been editing for hours and hours for 3 days. My eyes are so red people will think I have infected pink eyes. I can't look at anything anymore without getting a headache and wanting to puke.

And what am I still doing right now at 11 pm at night?

Edi-fac**ing-ting.

I've been complaining about my back so much my three year-old has started mumbling to herself, "oh my back!" whilst pretending to limp around the house.

I don't know how it feels to be without pain or strain anymore.

LOL...

In your situation the best thing to do for the eyes is every 15 mins look at the side wall for 30 seconds. It may not sound like much but it make a major difference. Use an egg timer to keep track of the time.

Ok you win!

Sounds like a bad state you're in there tho!

I also suffer from a bad back so I can litterally feel your pain.

The best thing for it is to get away from the pc for a couple of hours and go to a gym with a pool, sauna and steam room.

The heat from the sauna and steam will help with the pain, and swimming is a great way to loosen everything up and build up the back muscles.

I've had major back trouble for 2 years now, and despite the pain in my shoulder and bicep the rest of my upper body is only marginally stiff today... in all honestly 6 months ago I'd be almost crippled today.

I injured myself playing video games before... Sore wrists. This time of year I injure myself more x-ma$$ shopping than anything else. A long stretch on amazon.com can wear out the ol' carpal tunnel. But it's all worth it when the text comes in. "your package was delivered"

Yes actually. I fell of my chair while trying to inspect a really precise clone job.
