I am in so much pain. I hauled my fat butt down Lighthouse Park in Vancouver, and then hauled my fat butt all the way back up; on top of climbing onto rocks and getting some snickers thrown my way from other people at how fat I am (and the fact that the dog drank a gallon of sea water, then had explosive..uh.. you know...in the middle of which fell of the darn rock INTO the ocean...*sigh).
My fat butt is not accustomed to being hauled up such steep inclines or over such large rocks whilst carrying so much extra weight (and I'm not talking about my flubber). Why did I do it? WHY? Pictures. That's why. If anyone else has done something like this, or more extreme, in the sake of pictures, I have only one thing to say: We're crazy. We really, truly are. Now, where the heck is my Swedish masseuse, Hans? Damnit. He's probably getting a manicure. The hussy.

Oh dear. I do hope that you and your ample bottom managed to get some good shots after all that!
(And that the dog's OK)

Great shots!...and I love your dog.
![]() I did the same thing a few months ago out here in Manitoba. I wanted to get into hiking for fitness and photo ops and on that day I really put myself to the test. It wasn't intentional (getting somewhat lost and all that), but we ended up doing about 14.5 kms in 6.5 hours which included many, many breaks on pretty tough terrain. It was a great feeling to actually push myself to my limits because now I feel like I can do anything! I should visit BC soon. A friend says Grouse Mountain is pretty awesome.

LoL.. If you could see the steep mountains I climb in the name of a shot or two... But that's a nice set.
Your dog is probably conked out on the floor, dreaming of the walk, mine is.

Lol, definitely worth it. And yes, I have done something similar in hoping to get a good shot. A couple of years ago I was stationed in Oklahoma. I was out shooting at the mountains but nothing I was seeing looked that spectacular to me, it was all stuff I'd seen a hundred times before. So I wanted to get a new outlook on everything. On a whim "a very stupid one now that I look back", I decided to free climb up the side of a 75-100ft rock face to get to the cliff above and get some new shots. Back then I was shooting with a crappy little pocket camera, but I still wanted that interesting view. Well halfway up, there was a ledge big enough to sit on, so I decided to rest for a few minutes. My second stupid decision of the day was not looking closely at where I was sitting, and I sat right down on a tiny little cactus.. Ow. So now my butt was full of tiny little hair sized needles... Uncomfortable experience is an understatement. But that made it personal, I had to get up there and get my shot, so I climbed the rest of the way up and guess what was up there? A well used path that went down the other side of the mountain and back to near where I started.... I was frustrated and literally threw my hands up... That was my 3rd mistake of the day, because as my left hand was on it's way up, my thumb got hooked in the strap and the camera came out of my pocket, and back over the cliff I'd just climbed up.. I was so pissed off, that I just pulled out my phone, took a snapshot, and walked back down the path and left. BUT, whenever I see the picture, it makes me laugh lol, so definitely worth it

Actually, Nilla is pretty annoyed at me right now. I discovered, upon getting irritated with the sound of her licking something for 15 minutes, that she has a hole just behind her back right pad. I'm guessing she either stepped down on a piece of drift wood or she stepped against a barnacle. Either way, it's open and bleeding a bit. I've since put antibiotic on it (from the vet for her Staph infection a few months back) and wrapped it up but she's most annoyed by it.
She did have a really good time and the park is off leash, which is really nice. And everyone we met was pretty friendly (including people in the parking lot; one lady asked if I needed help with Nilla when I was trying to get her into the back of my Matrix to fix her backpack; which ended up breaking before we headed back up to go home and I ended up carrying, on top of my pack, and all the crap that was in it). I'd do the park again, but maybe not THAT beach b/c oi.. I am so paying for it today. Thanks for the compliments on the pictures I really love the one with her sitting on the rock. I wish there had been more light on her face, but it might have over-exposed then.
