I was out shooting at the mountains but nothing I was seeing looked that spectacular to me, it was all stuff I'd seen a hundred times before. So I wanted to get a new outlook on everything. On a whim "a very stupid one now that I look back", I decided to free climb up the side of a 75-100ft rock face to get to the cliff above and get some new shots. Back then I was shooting with a crappy little pocket camera, but I still wanted that interesting view. Well halfway up, there was a ledge big enough to sit on, so I decided to rest for a few minutes. My second stupid decision of the day was not looking closely at where I was sitting, and I sat right down on a tiny little cactus.. Ow. So now my butt was full of tiny little hair sized needles... Uncomfortable experience is an understatement. But that made it personal, I had to get up there and get my shot, so I climbed the rest of the way up and guess what was up there? A well used path that went down the other side of the mountain and back to near where I started.... I was frustrated and literally threw my hands up... That was my 3rd mistake of the day, because as my left hand was on it's way up, my thumb got hooked in the strap and the camera came out of my pocket, and back over the cliff I'd just climbed up.. I was so pissed off, that I just pulled out my phone, took a snapshot, and walked back down the path and left. BUT, whenever I see the picture, it makes me laugh lol, so definitely worth it
Oh.
My.
God.

I lol'd for real. I can so see someone doing that (heck, *I* could see me doing it). I would have thrown the camera too (maybe not even by accident). That makes for an even more interesting picture.

When I read you climbed 75 to 100 ft up, my only thought (which was my thought yesterday trying to get down off this little 10ft high rock was "how the heck are you going to get down?" Glad you were able to manage it though lol

What's the old cliche...no pain, no gain? Looks like you got some winning photos out of all that hard work along with your aches & pain, Peach! Good job!

LOL! Reminds me of a friend of mine who always says, "Hey! I'm in shape! Round is a shape!"

Ouch, but yet another reason to keep duct tape in the bag.... Not only is it great for the occasional back waxing but it also pulls out those cactus needles

Ya know, I never thought about using duct tape for that. Between personal uses, and watching Mythbusters, I thought I'd seen it all as far as what duct tape can be used for lol, but I guess not!
