Well, it may not be getting put to particularly artistic use, but your camera certainly is going to have its own interesting story to tell.

If ghosts start appearing on your images maybe you could get an exorcist for your camera. Hmm, maybe you could write a script for Hollywood

Ghosts through the camera.. that could work as a hollywood movie, i'd probably go see it.. And it might be better than 90% of the pointless storylines they've come up with lately.

As for the dog, well, I could say something but it's a bit of my morbid humor coming out. I'm just going to say - this sounds like a very tragic case.

Ok well, nothing to do with this SPECIFIC case (as the joke I was thinking of pertaining to it has since slipped my very small brain) but I work in a hospital. Not on the front lines but we hear a lot in our job (I've seen a few things I'll never forget). You kind of need a morbid sense of humor to work in a hospital, I think.
Anyway, my coworker's husband is a cop and he was working homicide at the time (I think). He texted her saying he just got a call to head down to the river (big river, huge tidal river) because someone claimed to have seen a human head in a Tupperware container. We spend the next 40 minutes discussing how one would get such an item in a Tupperware container; including my other coworker who answered the question "do they even make Tupperware containers that big?" that yes they did and she knew this from personal experience: she has one she has tried to put her head in. I know it doesn't sound funny, more of a "you had to be there" type situation. ---------------------- I have so many funny stories from work. Including shoving my foot so far down my mouth I think I started to digest some of it in front of a doctor one night, being asked by another doctor while being a patient in the ER if I'd ever seen an x-ray of anal beads (I hadn't, but I have now), watching a 300 lb guy with a broken thumb giggle like crazy while his thumb was reset by a doctor in front of at least 8 other patients while he was on laughing gas, seeing a 90-year-old man walk out of his room stark naked and ask if I wanted to "dance the Charleston" (no thanks), calling an OBGYN a "baby catcher" and hoping he had his "catcher's mitt" ready that day, listening to one of the nurses talk about how she caught some guy having uh..relations..with his wife's colostomy site (ewie), being told by a pathologist we could go down and witness an autopsy if we ever wanted just that if we "bring any snacks, make sure there's enough to spread around" (uh.. no thanks), the list goes on. -------------------------------------------------- As for the dog.. well.. maybe he liked the toe jam? I know, that was pretty bad. I'm sorry you had to see such a grizzly site today. Nothing I say, or anyone else will say, will ever make it better - we can joke about it, but joking is just a way of masking the reality. Take deep breaths and look toward something brighter. Lending your camera to the detective was a big help, I'm sure, and saved time from finding one that was working. You guys have a tough job and like paramedics, doctors, and firefighters, the general populace should be (and I think in general is) respectful for the difficult work you have to do.
