I used to play around with flight simulator. It's a pretty cool program and has some nice tweaks. About the time you really learned some cool stuff, they updated the thing and you had to start over. Around FS 2004 I rendered a 3D model of my house I could fly over.
I read about a guy that built something like this in his basement. He couldn't fly for health reasons, so he networked six pc's together and had full range of view and all the controls (one pc renders each view, sides, front back and panel view) It just didn't tilt and swivel. Sounds like fun if you have a lot of time, money, and few friends.
