You're not crazy, you're exactly right.

Roderick, if you keep removing cookies, of course you'll have this problem. Cookies are not an "evil" thing, they're just how websites store local info about you, such as your logged-in status.

Thanks for your info. I understand what you say about cookies.
When I think about it my privacy setting is set rather high and therefore preventing most cookies. I have always felt that cookies are the reason for spam getting into PCs.
Am I wrong about this?
Although I do go on other sites that have "remember me" boxes and these work ok.
Perhaps this particular website requires more cookies than the others.
Cheers.
PS. I have just noticed that when logging off, this website clears all cookies automatically!

Certain cookies have different levels of priority set to them. Some are considered low, so your browser clears those. Some are a bit more important and will only be cleared with higher "security" settings, and some are higher to the point where hitting "clear cookies" doesn't even delete them. Sites like Facebook use much higher-priority cookies than DPS does. In fact I've read that your cookies don't even clear for Facebook when you log out and clear cookies.

However, cookies in general are safe. What you've probably heard is they're used for "tracking" you. This is sort of true, but it's almost always just data that helps personalize ads on the website the cookie is originally from. I use Firefox so I'm not positive, but IE probably has a way to whitelist sites so you will accept all cookies and not delete them. If you can find this option for it, add DPS to the list.

Hi again, I have reduced my security to see if there is any improvement.
Did you see my PS saying that when logging off, this website says that it clears all cookies on exit?

I did not. However, if you're logging off, what is it that DPS is not remembering that you'd like it to? I thought it was randomly logging you off or something...

Hi, It is the same problem that Daryan and others have had when negotiating around the site. We all find that we have to keep logging on. The remember me box when ticked does not do that!
I have just had another thought. Why would it matter if all cookies are cleared on exit?
When logging in next time the cookies would come back again.
Is this correct?

That's correct but the cookies store your login state and information. If you clear them, you'd have to re-enter your information.

Earlier I said he should try clearing them because he may have one stuck on the not-remembering-him setting or something.

Clearing your Cache and cookies may help. Try a different browser as well. I'd suggest Firefox or Chrome.

Download Firefox
