Default Wedding Photo Course

Hi guys,

I had a look through the forum to see if there is a similar thread somewhere, but couldn't see any - so forgive me if this happens to be a duplicate.

I am very interested in doing a photography course related to weddings / portraits - but I am not looking for something online. I want to be with a tutor which can give on the spot advice on composition, focus, etc etc and especially on post production as I am still nervous when it comes to using Photoshop.

I have come across this course which is offered just outside of London - but I can't seem to find any online reviews for it (apart from their own website):

The Wedding Seminar | The Trained Eye

Does anybody have any experience with them - or do you know of other valuable courses in or around the London area that you can recommend?

Thanks!

This course would be anywhere there are other photographers-become a second shooter at a wedding. If you can be kind, courteous and polite to a professional wedding shooter they may let you work with them. Just ask around. Don't forget to try to sound confident, or offer to do things in return for the experience (among other things), so they will think you are worth their time.

I had someone who offered to let me be a second shooter at weddings with them as long as I toted around his gear...later I visited his website and realized I was a better photographer than him! (This isn't even me being that arrogant.) I eventually declined, but at least I could have, had I wanted to.

Thanks for the advice

Jim - the reason the course got my attention was because it has 2 days of practical shooting experience, with a tutor giving advice as you go along

I have thought in the past to approachother photographers to be their assistant at weddings - but as I don't know any photographers personally I felt a bit awkward as I don't know how I would approach them, or what I would be able to offer them in return to help me out....

Hi,

I have been on their 2-day wedding course if that helps. Generally, was very impressed... the photographers teaching it were very good, quality shoots, nothing held back. No gripes here, quite an impressive set up they have there.

I can only imagine the 4-day course would go into things in twice as much details, which wouldn't be a bad thing if you have the money for it

Hope that helps,
Mark

(PS - of course, you can't beat assisting with a top pro, but from my approaches, there's not been many who've wanted to help!)

I did a 2 day course with this guy:

photography workshops and photography courses: Wedding

Would recommend. There's a lot of hands on and he's old school pro. The type that charges accordingly and cuts out all the bollox. Think he's shot at like Buckingham palace or something before. Nice bloke too.

I know it's not London, but jump on the M4 and it'll take you straight there
