Default In Remembrance..

‎"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them."

Sorry, No we won't.

Worker receives warning for poppy

If this is correct, I'm happy to forgo my Australian citizenship if this crap is allowed to go on.

We have become a world of political correctness, ill discaplined children, where guns are accepted as the norm, whre idealogies are extreme, both left and right, and where we are fed a diet of gratuitious sex, bad mannered tv brats and where men are portrayed as fools and women as tarts.

I need a desert island, just me and my camera, oh and my golf clubs and my wife oh and kids and grand kids. And my mates. My dog Buster, I'll think of more.

Cheers,

John W

On the subject of the pins themselves, I never understood why the poppies weren't secured on safety pins?

As for Remembrance Day itself: I am eternally grateful for the sacrifices our soldiers have made over the years - during the great wars, the ones being fought, and those in between. They do a job I wouldn't want to do - so I can live freely without fear, and so others around the world can one day live as freely as I.

I have always said: If you don't stand behind our troops, feel free to stand in front of them. Oppose the war, oppose the reason for the war, but don't EVER oppose a soldier. None of them like the war any more than you do - but they're doing a job that has to be done, sadly, and in some cases (too many cases) it costs them everything.

I wish they'd change the pins to the type on lapel pins... the ones with the little back clasp. They do fall off all the time, they do stick people all the time. I managed to keep mine this year by painting a lapel pin black and putting it on backwards. Looked good and I didn't lose it!
