Might want to read this follow up...

Adobe admits using 'synthetic blur' image in deblur demo

tldr; The demo might not have been totally fake (though it was partially) and it's probably a good ways off from being anywhere near usable tech.

In the software world this is known as vapor-ware. Otherwise known as someone has an idea and it might look like this, if it works!

Lol, thanks for the link. Even taking that into consideration, it does look like it has potential though. Maybe someday

Second corollary of Clarke's Third Law:

Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from a rigged demo.

Theoretically, I don't see why this would not be possible. From what I read, it was only the last image they admitted to "rigging", if you will, but it does sort of ruin their credibility. That said, it's not like Adobe doesn't have some pretty incredible accomplishments up their sleeve with this sort of thing already. Content-Aware Fill, for one.

It obviously wouldn't work for images that are out of focus, but for simple slow shutter motion blur, if they can detect the exact motion of the camera, it should be possible to work backwards from that and put together a sharper image. That would be a pretty complex algorithm, though.
