Is it just me or I'm not seeing why that photo would fetch that much?!?

Damn it, I knew I should have taken my medication tonight.

I do like the photo. It's minimalistic, it's simple. I wouldn't spend much more than a hundred or so dollars on it, especially if i could conceivably recreate it.

Furthermore, it's been doctored: the photographer edited out elements from the shot.

The only redeeming factor is that it's presented at 6ft by 12ft.

Looks awful to me, the shapes are ok but it just seems washed out and dull.

I like the photograph, but I've never heard of the photographer. Size is one thing, but even at $30 per ft^2 (I think that's FedEx office pricing), it's ~$2200. Add another $1000 for an overpriced frame, and that's still a sizable profit margin.

I'm surprised it topped Cindy Sherman's record. She has name recognition; Andreas has...really big prints.

It's not a very interesting photo to me....not sure why it commanded such a high price.

Seconded. I like the composition alright, but to me it's nothing special.

Is it just me or is the horizon not even completely straight?

I've taken some crap pictures before, might try selling them for a couple of million each too

Ok, I think it's time to start selling large prints of my photos on eBay for half a million lol. After seeing something like this, I really am tempted to take some random photo and put a ridiculous price on it, simply to see how many hits it gets..

And like previously said - it's been doctored (horribly at that, I might add). You can see where some lines don't meet up nicely from where they've cloned something (or someone) out.

I guess this is a lot like "art" - I just don't get it.
