Steve McCurry's One-Minute Masterclass #5 | Photography | Agenda | Phaidon
Just stumbled upon this and whilst I haven't watched it, I wanted to share it with you good people of DPS! This is going to be interesting, if not, revelatory. Cheers, Grace |

Thanks for the post.
Have a look at some of Cartier-Bresson's or Robert Doisneau's photography. You may find this tute ( of mine) of interest - Especially part 3. It just doesn't only apply to street or people photography. Part (1) Capturing the "moment" (1) Part 3 Capturing the moment (3)

So I've seen all five so far and I think for me, video no 3 really hit it. It explained the motions I went through taking photos at the children's party last Sunday and I was just so in that moment and was really enjoying capturing those little instances with people. I went home and that spirit showed on the images and I was so satisfied.
No 5 hit it for me, too. Not that I've done street photography yet, but I so completely agree with this idea to display your enthusiasm and approaching the people you want to photograph, instead of the usual sneaky approaches that's been advised by so many. I actually don't like that approach, but Steve's advice was spot on for me, personally. Looking forward to the rest of the videos as I believe there will be ten or so total for the series. I like Doisneau, but his work is a little 'glossy' for me. Err, how do I explain that? I guess what I mean is that I like the raw feel of Steve's images in comparison to Doisneau's. Cheers guys
