My Canon Powershot S3 IS recently decided to have a "lense error." After taking it to our local shop they told me I will need to replace the lense sensor board which would be between $160 and $220. Curious if you have any other suggestions as I love my camera but at that amount I will probably just have to replace it. Also curious if you know of anyone who would want to purchase/restore it. Thanks for your help!!

Ouch. Some canon models (particularly point and shoots) with auto extending lenses suffered from the dreaded lens error. Usually because the lens was mushed against a pocket or case when powered on. The lens jumps the gear track.
Blaming canon for this is like blaming ford for your dented bumper when you hit a tree. I'd replace it at this point...But that's just my opinion.
