Hi and welcome to DPS.
![]() It's a little hard to direct you to any particular section since we don't know you or what you're looking for. But here are a few pointers. SYS means Share your Shot. This is where you go to look at other's work or to show us yours. The Critique section is just that, a place to have your picture critiqued in order to get better at shooting or PP. The General Chit Chat, as you may already have notice, is the "meeting place" where we talk about everything. It sometimes look like an asylum but nobody really bites. Just don't forget to read the rules for every sections you want to post in. Take some time, look around, and as we get to know each other, you'll find we're a pretty good bunch. See you around.

Metallion said it all. Feel free to jump in on any conversation, cruise the turtorials as there is much to learn there, post some shots when you are ready. All in all we are like any family, with plenty of crazy aunts and uncles to boot.

A few really important areas of the site weren't mentioned yet...
First, the Technique area. It's a great place to ask any of your "How do I" or "Why does..." questions. And if you're keen to ask questions that are more about your camera, there's always the Nikon section. Otherwise, welcome to the forums!

A warm welcome to DPS from me as well
![]() Everybody else has given you some great advice on where to get started, but I'd like to give another +1 to the Critique section. I've seen others comment on just how much people have improved by posting in that section, and that goes for me as well. As someone new to the photography world, it can be scary getting your worked critiqued lol. I know quite a few people who are great photographers. One of them is amazing at doing abstract photos, but she's scared to death to get Any of her pictures critiqued on here lol. But it's one of the best places to really learn how to improve your skills. But, keep in mind something. The critique section is exactly that.. real, honest critique, whether it's good or bad. I've seen quite a few people get their feelings hurt over things people have said about their photos. Just try not to take anything personal, if somebody says something negative about your picture it's because they're trying to help your improve as a photographer. And as you'll come to find out, there's a few people on here that are overly honest and blunt lol . But if that happens and you want to feel good about yourself again, just post a photo or two in Share Your Shots and you're sure to get positive comments lol.I wish you luck in everything. Photography is an amazing hobby, albeit a very expensive one. David
