Default Why I don't shoot Weddings!

You need to read this story found on Yahoo if you are thinking of shooting weddings for income. Man suing photographer wants wedding recreated, despite divorce | The Lookout - Yahoo! News

I run the other way as soon as someone mentions photographing weddings.

No wonder his wife left him and ran back to her own country. This guy is insane. It's amazing what you can sue for. Even if he doesn't win the lawsuit, $50,000 in legal fees for the photography company is still a lot of money, and damn near what he was suing for. They should counter sue for the legal costs, but I'm not sure how far that'd go since he's been unemployed for years.

What a dirtbag. He may have a point to get some of his money back if he contracted a photographer for the entire six hours, the wedding stayed on time and the photog left. The idea of receiving a 6 hr video is a farce as is recreating the wedding.

The guy in the article should be ashamed of himself. Who tries to sue anyone for something that happened 8 years prior? I'm surprised he's not hauling his ex back into court as well. I hope the judge presiding laughs this guy right out of the courthouse.

Well, in civil courts you can sue for anything. Thank goodness the judge dropped some of the charges. Zona is right, you need an iron-clad contract to protect yourself or be like me - No Wedding Photography, Ever!
