Sounds to me like Halloween in the US has gone from being a fun evening ou with the kidst to being a bunch of teenagers acting like complete d**ks.. What a shame.

I told hubby next year I am putting a big sign on the mailbox that says "If you are taller than me or not wearing a costume you will get no candy here"

We had way more kids show up last night than what live in just our neighborhood and half of them were teenagers in plain clothes with book bags. Come on at least paint your face with mom's makeup or something. I have no problem giving to the bigger ones and long as they are respectful and at least attempt to dress up,not just run around looking for a hand out.

I had one group of big boys come up and one starts peeping in the bowl and says "let me get 2 of them big suckers" I gave him the smallest piece in the bowl I could find....LOL

LoL.. We had a few big kids last night.. They backed up a bit when I let go of the collar of my rather big black dog to hold the bowl a little tighter.. AND said 'Thank you' when I reminded them.. One thing I can't stand is bad manners.. Act how you want at home, but if you come to my door looking for handouts then it's "please" and "thank you" or I let the dog go for a pee on your leg! Ha ha.. Helps being 6ft and well built too, but they seem more concerned about my frisky Labrador, who wouldn't hurt the fleas on his back.

Depends on where you live. I'm in Calif, but it's a small tight-knit neighborhood with less than 30 houses on our street. We had 8 well behaved children come to our door. Was really surprised since we've gained a couple of new neighbors with small kids that they didn't show up too. Oh well, maybe next year. :-)

The kids who came to my door were very polite. The younger ones more so. I think they are still thrilled that someone is handing them free candy, whereas some of the older kids seem to feel entitled.

Does anyone remember last year when a man died on his balcony and his neighbors thought he was a Halloween decoration?

"A 75-year-old dead man sat decomposing on his Marina del Rey balcony for days because neighbors thought the body was part of a Halloween display and didn’t call police.

Mostafa Mahmoud Zayed had apparently been dead since Monday with a single gunshot wound to one eye. He was slumped over a chair on the third-floor balcony of his apartment on Bora Bora Way, said cameraman Austin Raishbrook, who owns RMG News and was on scene Thursday when authorities found the body.

Neighbors on the 13900 block of Bora Bora Way told Raishbrook that they noticed the body Monday “but didn’t bother calling authorities because it looked like a Halloween dummy," he said.

"The body was in plain view of the entire apartment complex [and] they all didn’t do anything,” Raishbrook said. “It’s very strange. It did look unreal, to be honest.”

Hehe I'm guilty of that. Last year me and a friend decided to go trick-or-treating at the last minute (9-10 ish). No costumes, so we just put on some sweaters backwards, and covered our faces with the hood. A lot of people said go away, but some-especially the older people without children living with them- just said "screw it, your the last ones anyways" and dumped half a bowl of candy in a bag.

it was a very profitable year

Once again this year we had over 400 juvenile delinquents, most were well mannered. I live in one of the few "un-gated" communities, so we tend to get loads of kids and sometime busloads...literally I have seen a busses stop and unload..no to get ready for x-mas and the bumper to bumper traffic that flows down our street..testing of lights starts friday..
