Interesting..... most quizzes I've taken over the years put me as a "Right leaning centrist" however this one put me right in the Libertarian corner.

While I do agree with a lot of the Libertarian positions on issues I am soooooo far against their stand on illegal immigration. I'll never support a candidate that is in favor of open borders.

ETA: I marked myself as fiscal conservative, social moderate

My answers put me at 60% personal, 80% economic. We need to protect our national sovereignty. Closed borders, no free trade areas. Within our borders though, people should be free to succeed or fail without government propping up losers or punishing winners. I'm a big fan of John Stossel's stuff--he makes the case for Libertarianism stronger than Ron Paul ever could.

As for politics losing friends--once I came out as a conservative, my parents stopped talking to me for a few years. But my wife and I kept having kids, and grandparents won't be without grandkids for long. I'm slowly, insidiously, helping them realize that everything they believed is a lie, and I think I'll have made Libertarians out of them by them time they're too old to vote.

I have no idea where I fit in...

I am fiscally moderate, but also realistic...I would consider my self socially moderate but think functioning so******m would be great (but a fantasy). I disagree with formal religions but believe in being "faithful". The closest thing that fits me is "Buddhist" but I'll kill things (and feel sad at the same time)..ohoh I added religion! I have a "left wing" job and I believe in it.

There was a big media thing a while ago where a college basketball player turned her back to the flag during the national anthem...you should have heard the things being said about her where I work.

I said I thought it was probably misguided and she confused the flag with the government, but even if she didn't it didn't matter; I supported her.
I said "our job is to die (and to train others to hopefully survive) in order to protect people's rights to do things *I* and our government may not like." And I believe it.... Not many really understood.
I'm in the military.

I suppose you can say that pure sociali*m would be absolute nervana...cradle to grave with everything provided to you from food in your mouth to someone wiping your butt. The trouble is, someone will get stuck with the job of butt wiping. Also, this would all work out great if there was a complete, and unlimited supply of money to fund it. Of course, therein lies the problem. You know what Margaret Thatcher once said about sociali*m, "...sooner or later you run out of people with money." Now I'm not saying that capitalism doesn't also have it's warts...but maybe that's for another discussion

Paraphrasing Winston Churchill:
Quote:
Capitalism is the worst economic policy that exists. Except for all the others.
Churchill again:
Quote:
The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal distribution of wealth. The inherent virture of so******m is the equal sharing of misery.
America has the most socially mobile society on the planet. The problem, though, is that the mobility is hidden behind Hard Work, so few people are able to find it. I have worked minimum wage after graduating magna cum laude from a four year university. I have used the benefits from my min-wage, 3rd shift position to get an associate's degree in a more readily marketable field. I have used that degree to gain real-world experience in a growing industry. I was then laid off, and didn't work for 4 months. I found a job that underutilized my experience, but paid the bills barely. Today, I got a job offer for a position with a 6 figure income. Social Mobility is in direct proportion to hard work.

So******m won't work....I accept that.
So******m isn't having everything provided for you. It requires one to work and share what you have for the better of others (and others to share with you). I would do that, I do do that. But I'm not willing to go to the point of detriment for me or mine.

The problem with so******m (and religion, and governments, and pretty much everything) is people.

WTH? social*sm is a "bad word"?.......amazing.

It's not so much So******m, as it is the Male Enhancement drug that's concealed within.
