I only spend time on DPS as a forum. I don't really have time to participate in more forums. I read websites, sure, but actively (or partly) participate, don't have the time.

I figured I'd put my eggs in one basket. A while ago I stumbled across FanArtReview and thought it looked like a fun website with an interesting community. Boy was I wrong. I was pretty much asked to leave the website by the owner because of my critiques on photos. Apparently I'm too harsh and he got tired of complaints about my critiques. At least I got a refund. Yes, it's a paying site. And yes, it sucks balls. Big balls (at least when I was there). It's a haven for "I'll tell you how great your barely mediocre snap shot is if you do the same for me" type people.
Anyway.. so then I stumbled upon DPS and will likely be here a while (until the powers that be tell me to leave! )

My first forum was Gamefaqs, back when I played video games. Haven't posted there in years though. I came up with the handle "MrCoolantSpray" based on a video game I liked.

For a while I posted on the Breitbart sites (BigHollywood, BigGovernment, BigPeace, etc--the Right's response to Huffpo), but that got boring eventually. I think my handle was "Nathan."

I use MyLot occasionally. That has the potential to be really good, as there are topics for everything under the sun. But they pay users for each post (hella lots of ads), and there's so much mindless chaff and spambot robo-posting as to make it annoying after a very short while. The photography forum there, for example, is entirely peopled with users like Photography (or whoever that person is that y'all always complain about). Some other sub fora there aren't as bad. It just seems like MyLot attracts Craigslist people-with-slrs rather than people-with-knowledge-and-give-a-flip. I resurrected MrCoolantSpray for that one.

I've posted on Photo.net, but their Pretentiousness goes up to 11.

This forum is the best one I've come across, 'cept for Gamefaqs 10 years ago during the PS2 golden age.

The non-photography sites are firearms related.
One site is private by-invitation only. It was started by a bunch of locals that were exiled from AR15.com
The other is AccurateReloading.com

This is the only photography site I actively participate in. I lurk at the Cafe but rarely post there.

For photography, I lurk at 1x.com, mainly for inspiration . . . and to be humbled. The photos posted there are generally high quality, and the critique section can be instructive.
