Default First Trimester freakin sucks!!

First let me start by saying: Please, dont inundate me with things like "Babies are God's precious lil gifts." That may be your religion or belief, but it's not mine. To me, it's all Science. Is it really freakin cool how our combined cells can do it? Yes.

Now, The first trimester, is SO not a beautiful thing. I feel like I've been fighting the flu for a week, and theres nothing I can do about it. It takes me a few hours, on my lucky days, to get over the nausea in the morning. Sometimes it lasts the entire day. I can smell EVERYTHING! I feel like I want to just constantly wear a mask, even at home. The garbage can. The cat box, even if I've just changed it. Changing the catbox is more of a chore, because I have to wear gloves and a makeshift mask just to do it. And I can still smell everything that I'm stirring up. I can smell the dog, but shes getting a bath soon. I can smell the apt in general, from ground in things in the carpet from previous tenants. When my husband gets home, one thing we are SO doing is shampooing the carpet. I'm tired, my boobies hurt all the time, my clothes are uncomfortable, I'm either hot or cold, everything makes me want to puke, I don't want to eat anything, because even the thought of food is so not appealing. Nothing tastes good.

I had heartburn issues even before I got pregnant, and now? HA! The med I had to switch to doesnt work as well as my prescription that I can't take now. The doc told me yesterday, he'd prefer I didnt take anything in the first trimester. HA HA HA! Are you kidding me?!?! You try being pregnant with my ailments that I had even BEFORE I got pregnant, MISTER! Millions of babies are born just fine when the mother took things that were in a safe Category. My Mother in Law smoked the entire time with my husband, and he turned out just fine. Sometimes I think they put too much emphasis on, You cant have this, or You cant do that. They give you lists of all this stuff to avoid, and while most of it makes sense, its like "Really?!" Now, I was a label reader even before pregnancy and try to eat things that are as natural as possible. I buy organic as much as possible. ( Try Organic Milk just once, and you'll be hooked. It lasts longer and tastes better. ) Caffeine, Sodium, Artificial Sweeteners, and MSG all make sense and are easy to avoid. But some things cant always be avoided. They throw all this information at you, heres this that you need to think about, and this that you need to think about, and you need to be doing this, or not be doing this. It's a bit overwhelming, and your going, OMG! JUST STOP!! ONE thing at a time!

I just want my husband home already for support. Emotionally, and well as someone to help me. I have no one but him. No family here. You all know about my "friend" situation. It just sucks.

I am sorry Amber. I hope that it gets better for you soon. And you need to give the cat box job to your hubby when he gets home. That is a big NO NO for pregnant women, as I am sure that you know since you are wearing gloves and a mask. It is very dangerous for the baby. In fact, I might be tempted to buy the disposable cat boxes for now so that you can just dump the whole thing and set out a fresh one.

Not to be the insensitive man; but, like a kidney stone the first trimester shall pass. You are a strong and able woman. Put up with the pukes, smells, soreness, crabbiness and become a better person for it. I hope your husband gets home safe soon. By the way, I've been told and been witness to the greatly increased libido around the 6th month. Best of luck with the rest of your term.

Oh yea. It IS so cool to think about how it all works from two sets of chromesomes getting together. If one sits and ponders this, it blows your mind.

That sucks that you are fed up Amber. First trimester is the worst. Everyone expects you to be happy and glowing but you're actually just sick & tired all the time. Try to do as little as possible if its not necessary, take the dog for a walk for some fresh air.
Look forward to your second trimester, its the best part - you're not too fat yet & not nauseous any more (hopefully)

When my ex was knocked up with our first, she was sick 24/7 for the first 4 months.

It was like living in the Exorcist movie.

I worked every second of overtime I could, and I despised ever working over 40 hours, but damn she was scary, and mean.

Hi FG, it should get better/easier for you...just hand in there! I know it's frustrating not to feel well right now. The 2nd trimester is usually the easiest. In the meantime, invest in lots of crackers, pretzels, &/or tortilla chips until the queasiness passes.

Oh yeah, & make sure you quit messing with the litter box asap! The sooner, the better for you & the baby.

Not real sure what the FB reference is about, so I'm just going to ignore it.

I know about the cat box and staying away from it, but right now, I have no other options. I'm the only one who can do it. When the Hubby comes home, then he'll be on kitty litter duty. Which he knows that.

Thanks for all the encouraging words. I've been thru worse really. ( Severe kidney infection when I was 6. Put me in the hospital for a week. I'll never forget it. ) I think most of that earlier was a lil bit of the hormones getting to me. It is overwhelming the amount of information they throw at you though. And I'm trying to take on too much, by trying to figure out what I think about it now. Like there isnt 7 1/2 months to figure some of it out. I'm worrying too much about all this, when I shouldnt. And my main source of "Quit worrying, it'll be fine. Here, let me make a valid point that you cant argue with, because your an intelligent woman and know that what I'm saying makes complete sense." will be home in a week or so. He's my rock, and he keeps me grounded.

He's excited to be a Daddy. He wants a boy, because he has two brothers. Everyone else; his mom, my mom, my sister, my best friend; all want a girl. I dont care either way. He said if it's a girl, first thing he's doing is going out and buying a shotgun. LOL,..She would so have Daddy wrapped around her lil finger. Just like Mommy does. LOL

I did force myself to get up, get dressed, and take the dog to the park for a walk. Cuz we both need to get back to that. Especially me, being pregnant. They encourage you to exercise. Then I came home and opened some windows to let the apt air out since it was cooler. It helped a lot. Now here in a bit, I'm going to make me a cup of Celestial Seasoning's Candy Cane Lane tea, and lay in bed and read my book.
