Default These are possibly the 5 best sentences you'll ever read

These are possibly the 5 best sentences you'll ever read:

1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the
wealth out of prosperity.

2. What one person receives without working for, another person
must work for without receiving.

3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the
government does not first take from somebody else.

4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.

5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to
work because the other half is going to take care of them;
and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work,
because somebody else is going to get what they work for,
that is the beginning of the end of any nation.

In my town, the schools are hurting for money. The teachers are on a pay freeze and making less actual money than they were a few years ago (due to inflation). They are cutting extra curriculars and essential creative programs (musics/arts). But the board of education voted to give themselves raises. The district superintendent also gave himself a raise and now makes $350,000 a year for overseeing 3 schools.

Why is this allowed? Why can the people in charge simply decide they get more money when everyone else is hurting? They aren't doing more or doing a better job than before. There should be laws against this kind of thing.

Define "best" in this case.

Won't someone please think of the rich people? Some of them might only be making millions of dollars instead of billions.

Ok, those are great. We also love warm puppies and rainbows and the American flag.

But you haven't told me anything beyond the fact that you think we're screwed. I honestly can't tell if you've given up all hope that our nation can be saved, or if you believe there's some plan we could follow that would make things better. All I see are sweeping statements that nobody could ever hope to act upon.

For what it's worth, I think there are some great principles in there, but like a politician kissing a baby, they're not going to do us any good once the TV cameras are turned off.

What is it you're recommending we do?? (and for bonus points, how are you going to get a politician to do these things?)

So vote them out! Teachers should be on a pay freeze, just like most people in private industry have been. Teachers should not have tenure - the bad ones should be fired and the good ones should get raises based on performance. Once we start rewarding the good teachers and firing the bad ones then education will improve.

Would it be too much to presume that you have devised a standardized, workable system to sort out the bad from the good that also accounts for the dramatic differences in resources available at different schools?

The issue is not teachers wages. The usa and Europe have structual problems most of the worlds population cannot begin to comprehend.

The weirdiest thing is seeing average to poor earners taking up the side of the uberwealthy in the name of anti-so******m. Weakth has been destroyed by the pursuit of the american dream at the price of all logic and sanity. The fairy dust is finished and it is time to readjust normal.

The world has ten years at least before we start building out of it. We needed wwii to get out of the last depression. Hopefully we will not need wwiii for this one.

And that is my pearl of wisdom before bed. Sleep tight...
