Default PopPhoto's contest questionable?

According to their official rules they state...

"By entering, you grant to Sponsor a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to edit, publish, promote, republish at any time in the future and otherwise use your submission, along with your name and likeness, in any and all media for any purpose, without further permission, notice or compensation (except where prohibited by law)."

And from my research they seem like a legit publication too... What do you guys think?

Seems like the usual rubbish you get from magazines.. They don't think up these photo contests for no reason, they need to fill their pages somehow, and getting you to send them photos, whether or not you win, means they can fill their pages with your photos on completely unrelated topics without having to pay royalties.

Seems fairly standard.. If you want to enter the contest, you need to agree, if you don't agree, don't enter.

There are many "legit" companies and publications who have unreasonable terms and conditions (copyright grabs) in their competition rules.

If you don't like them then don't enter is the simple answer.
You can also write to them pointing out the error of their ways and you can publicise the fact that the competition is a copyright grab so as to warn others.
There are various sites which do this.

This is a way for publications to get photography for free. Personally I would never give away any of my work. Once you sign an agreement like that they can do anything they want with your 'Work of Art'. If you create it, it's yours.
