Default Eye to Eye

I don't get along with everyone here. That's nothing new to the regulars. I don't expect to get along with everyone here either. But if a genuine attempt to help is met with a threat of physical violence, I think that's a step too far.

And yet, that's what I've encountered. Like I said, I may not see eye-to-eye with everyone here all the time, but i'd like to think that people are adult enough to realize that A) this is an internet forum about photography and B) it's a disagreement on something, not an attack on your mother's personal life.

I won't name names: the authorities have been alerted and actions have been taken. The shocking message I found a few days ago, however, was enough to prompt a serious look at the community.

I think I know of whom you are referring to, and I would hope that this incident doesn't reflect on everybody as a whole, there's always going to be a few bad apples in the basket, but that should certainly not stop you from posting. You post are generally informative and helpful...hell just about everybody here hates Max, but we keep him around!

I thoroughly enjoy your advice even if it isn't what I think. People need to get a grip.

I don't know who or what this is about. Not sure I want to know either.
One thing I can say is this.
I may not always agree with you but I respect both you and what you have to say. You should just take time time to absorb what happened and then move on. It wasn't the whole community but a single individual and there are a**holes in every community, real or virtual.
Just let it go, my friend.
Measures have been taken, the rest shall pass.

Osmosis,

I'm sorry to hear about the issue you had. When it comes to something as creative as photography, it's not very often that every single person is going to have the same opinion. Everybody has their own style. While I may not always agree with every single comment I receive, I still enjoy the constructive criticism. And I can't see how somebody can get violent about it.. I guess some people just aren't very stable.

That being said, I think a lot of people on here respect your opinion, whether they agree with it or not 100% of the time. So try not to let this one idiot ruin everything for you.

Os, you allowed your buttons to get pushed and pushed back...and it escalated.... (*if* I'm thinking of the right thread)....did you really expect it to go well?

I'm not defending the OP, I *almost* chimed in on that thread.....then I saw how completely pointless it would have been.

There's several who annoy me regularly. I believe they have the best intentions and they have been "regulars" lately so I let it go. Someone "new" who starts out like that.....not even worth getting annoyed over.

I'm just saying....

Generally, I think most folks here are a great bunch and sure I don't always agree - I don't always agree with my wife either, but I still love her lol!

What a shame some poster comes along and acts like a complete moron. People like this are exactly what's wrong with the world. The internet is a difficult place to argue as we can't always judge a person's demeanor by only the written word, but there are no excuses for threats.

Geez, Os, you mean the toll on the motorcycle? Sorry if that (or something else) is causing friction. No worries man, some people love to be tough guys on the internet.
You provide plenty of good information and express your opinion. It's valuable.

I agree with everyone else. I have and always will respect your opinion. If it's the thread I am thinking of, you did let your buttons get pushed, and in my opinion, the poster in question was looking for nothing more than that. The whole community is not that one person.

Damnit.. I've had a rub with a few on here, but that's how I learn new things.. Most of the people I've rubbed the wrong way I've actually got a lot of respect for.. Some, not so much, but the last one got banned.

Threatening violence is unacceptable, no matter what.

I've spent a lot of time in my past hanging out with Bikers, long enough to know that it's easy to be a tough guy when all you're doing is pushing buttons. It's very unlikely that anyone would follow through with that, but the threat is still unacceptable.

I tend to think of things this way.. When someone makes a threat of violence on an internet forum, they've probably got a small weaner!!

Now you've let your feelings out, take a deep breath, click on the "ignore" button, don't be tempted to see what that person is saying about you, because it doesn't matter, and hang out with people who like you and respect you.. There's plenty of us on here that do..

Oh, and one more thing.. In order for someone to truly get under your skin, you've got to respect them.. Sounds to me like you don't respect this person, so don't let them get under your skin..

Damn.. Now I've got to trawl through your recent posts to see what this is all about!
