What's with the dots?

Have you noticed how some people (a lot of people) on Flickr write a couple of dots as a first comment to their photos?
What's with that, what have I missed?

I know it's a stupid thing, but it just puzzles me. What's the story behind the dots. Is it like seed for new comments?

An example (look at the first comment): Laila... | Flickr - Photo Sharing!

It's may be a book mark for future related photographs.

Well rather than speculate I posted a comment on that photo you showed and asked what was the reason for the dots -- let's see if I get an answer.

Excuse me Richard, but how's that exactly? You mean that he's going to post a small version of a new photo there? I've seen a lot of people post old photos beneath the new ones.

I normally don't post a lot of pics at once on Flickr, except for motor racing, to give pople a chance to look at them so this is a way of keeping just a few pics together...

It's sometimes used to subscribe to the photo: that way you get a notification whenever there's anything said comment or note wise to the image.

Sorry, but I don't understand, who gets notifications? Everyone can easily see if there has been any more activity on the photo after they comment, and the photographer can get those notifications by e-mail. I'm not sure what you mean?
