I don't know about anyone else, but don't you find photography very restrictive?
I mean, because of it's "static" nature. You take a picture, you can imply movement and mood but it's never there. What I would love to do is have "moving pictures", not video so much, but movement in a picture that loops - and that's the hard be, creating a seemless loop. This is an idea; ![]() But take a look at this video from 7:10 minutes in. Aside from the fact the entire thing is CGI that will blow you away, look at the "photography" of the scene and how the movement really empowers the picture. The Third & The Seventh on Vimeo

Hmmm.. In what way is the moving pictures not video? That's exactly waht Video is, just a bunch of pictures strung together.
Nikon have gone some way to bridging the gap between Video and Photography with the Nikon 1 which has something called "Motion Snapshot" which creates photographic quality frames for short movies.. i.e. Full megapixel photos strung together to make a movie.. Goes someway taward what you're talking about. Nikon | Imaging Products | New Function - Nikon 1 V1 The thing about Photography is that it capture a single moment in time. I was on London bridge a while ago shooting the sun going down over the Houses of Parliament. The guy next to me was using an old Canon to capture the sun going down too.. Only he had his camera on medium resolution and continuous release. He kept the button pressed down and the camera was shooting at about 3 frames a second.. He kept this up for neatly 20 minutes.. Filling his memory card with as much as 4,000 images. He decided to string them together to make a high speed film of the sun going down lasting 2 mins. An interesting concept that I thought I'd play with.. My only question to him was simple.. Would it work with the camera in MUp mode (To save wear on the mirror) Oh, says he, I hadn't thought of that.. Next time I'll try.. This is how you could recreate the concepts you're on about. Photography isn't restrictive, it's only your mind that restricts you.

I know what you mean, there's a fine line between, lets say "film", and a picture. And obviously a lot of videographers have strong photographic skills.
But what I like is a picture that moves for aesthetics sake rather than to try and tell a story. Something that has no start or end but is continuous. I suppose a bit like those aweful waterfall light boxes you get in chinese takeaways :P

That is awesome. The second one`s a little creepy, but still, awesome.
You should print one out for your office

To be honest with you, having looked at it for a while, I find the repetative nature of the movement distracting. On the first one I find myself drawn to the hair, which mad me realise that the woman wasn't breathing, which was freaky. The second one leaves me distracted because she looks away from the camera..
The thing is, with both of them, they're good photos, but I find the added dimension of movement detracts from the picture after a while, instead of adding to it.. It's because of the inconsistencies with real human movement.. I'm sure this could be handled better, but without a story or reason for the movement, it's a bit like some of those 3D movies that were 3D just because they could be, weak or no story line, and the "enhancement" becomes a distraction.

hehe I agree with that too Swiss, I'm not keen on the completely fixed picture with a bit animated. I much prefer the sweeping shots in the video (after the images).
